International Youth Exchange Program
Since 2011, the Cork Bishopstown Rotary Club has sponsored young students aged from 16 to 26 to attend International Camps organised by Rotary Clubs across the Globe. Our students have traveled as far afield as Brazil, Taiwan, USA as well as many countries in Europe. They join with between 8-20 young people of a similar age from various other countries in a themed activity Camp for approximately 2 weeks during the summer.
The theme of the Camp can vary from music, cooking, photography, outdoor sports, hiking, cycling, tennis, foreign languages to sightseeing and cultural development. The students stay with host Rotarian families or in hostels and are closely supervised and always supported.
Applications are usually processed in the Autumn of the previous year and costs are kept to a minimum due to the involvement of Rotary volunteers.
The benefits of attending a Camp include making international friends, learning to appreciate different cultures, improving communication skills and developing confidence and resilience.
